Grassroot Americans

In his State of the Union Address on December 1, 1796 America’s first President, George Washington indicated the need for a national university. He stated:
“Amongst the motives to such an institution, the assimilation of the principles, opinions, and manners of our country-men by the common education of a portion of our youth from every quarter [...]
