How to Do Stage Makeup on Kids: Theatrical Makeup

“Hello, my name is Keegan Hitchcock from Body Art by Keegan and we’re here in Fort Lauderdale at One Model Place Studios. In this clip I’m going to show you how to apply stage makeup to children. We’re going to focus only on her eyes, her cheeks and her lips. Generally you’ll have a lot of kids in one scene. So we’re not going to go full on with the foundation. On here face and neck. We’re going to start with her eyes. She’s got her eyes closed for me here and make them darker just so that they pop. She’s going to be on a large stage. With lots of lights. Lots of audience members. So we’re going to make it a bit darker. Just to stand out. So you can see from all the way in the back of the house. We’re going to use a brown instead of a black though. So it still looks natural. Turn towards me please. All right and next we are going to give her very rosy cheeks for this same reason and also she’s a child. She’s youthful got lots of life in her. There you go. Smile please. Always ask your actor to smile. We’re going to get it right on the apples of her cheeks and blend outwards. Same on this side here and next we’re going to do her lips. Lips you want them a little rosy as well but no too intense. You don’t want to give her a really red lip. So we’re going to go with a color just a little bit darker than a nude. Cover her entire lips with the liner. That will help you color stick and last throughout performance. A little towards me please and after that your going to go over with a light gloss. If needed I prefer it. Some characters won’t. So now we’re going to use some gloss. Just to kind of finish the look here. Give her a little shine and that’s about it. We’ve got here eyes we’ve got her cheeks and now her lips are done and this is Keegan Hitchcock. Thanks you for watching.”
