Many blue-eyed women grab for a blue eyeshadow thinking the color will help draw attention to the eyes. Unfortunately, what ends up happening is the eyeshadow color will compete with the eye color, making it less noticeable. The point of makeup is to draw attention to the face, especially the eyes, not to the makeup.

By choosing correct eye makeup colors, the blue of the eyes will become more dominant and will be more noticeable. Others will notice how blue the eyes are and not be focusing on the makeup, which is exactly what is wanted.

Eyeshadow for Blue Eyes

Eyeshadow colors for blue eyes are mostly natural, neutral colors like shades of browns, golds, and peaches. Choosing eyeshadow colors that are opposite of the eye color will help the whites of the eyes appear brighter, making the eye color really stand out.

These colors are best used especially when one is not feeling one’s best. When sick, overly tired, or even suffering from a hangover and the eyes are bloodshot, wearing the correct eye makeup color will give the illusion of being more awake.

Eye Makeup Colors for Blue Eyes

Eye makeup colors to consider for eyeliner would be browns and bronze colors. These colors will work best to shape and define the eyes. Black eyeliner can be used for evening or when wanting to add a more dramatic touch. But for every day to day use, stick with shades of browns for eyeliner.

Mascara is all about the drama, so feel free to use a black/brown color or go for black. If the hair color is blonde, black/brown mascara would be the best option, especially for daytime use.

Mascara Makeup Tip

It is important to replace mascara every 3-6 months and after any eye infection, no matter how often the mascara has been used! At the three-month date, bacteria will begin to form in the mascara, which could cause major eye problems.

Remember, variety is the spice of life and that definitely includes makeup colors! Although this may seem to greatly limit the eyeshadow choices, it doesn’t mean that other colors are out of the question. These are the colors that will draw the most attention to the eyes, but that doesn’t mean it is wrong to wear a green, purple or even blue eyeshadow. Just know, that those colors won’t help accentuate the natural blue eye color. Makeup should be fun, so don’t get stuck in a rut.
