Eye Make-up Tips: On Choosing Color – Associated Content
Our eyes are the windows to our souls, or so they say. So why not add a little make up to accentuate them? That’s right, I said accentuate. That means I want you to bring out what’s already there. Even a deep dark layer of eye liner brings out something, it is just a matter of what you want to bring out.
First of all, you should take into account your hair color and eye color. Matching your shadow to you hair color can really make your eyes come out. By matching I mean finding a complementing color, for example if you have chestnut hair try a nice green.
Colors that work on any eye/hair color are black and charcoal. These most make excellent mascara and liner for shadows and eyes of any color. Remember that if you’re using a light or pale shadow you’ll want to finish it with a darker liner and mascara. Pale shades of shadow look half done without this finishing touch and can actually serve to wash you out. In order to properly finish them, apply a liner nice and close to the lashes keeping it smooth and even.
If you’re looking to find a color more specified to you, you’ll want to choose a shadow based on your eye color. Since each eye color is original you’ll need to experiment a bit on your own to find what you like best and what suits your eyes and skin tone. For this, take a girly night and stay in to experiment with make up colors and techniques. Alternatively, take the girls out to the make up counter and experiment there under professional help. They can recommend colors and show you ways of applying solids and smoky layers. If you’re going to stay at home, it might be nice to know what colors to begin with.
For those beautiful sapphire blue eyes look to colors that contrast the cool color with a warmer brown shade or a fun and flirty violet or rose. Obviously, darker browns are going to create a larger contrast, so if you want to remain subtle, stick with taupes and other light browns. When sporting a rose or violet hue, add an accent in your hair, shoes, or clothes to complete the look. If you’re into bold eyes, line with black liner and dress your eyes in a sultry charcoal.
