Eye make p tips for beginners

Made-up eyes can draw attention in any situation. However, there are certain rules that you must follow to have a ravishing effect. Use the following information as a guide to applying eye makeup.

When applying eye makeup, it is always important to wash eyes first. Not washing eyes may cause makeup to clump and clot around lashes and lids. Also, apply lotion for shine and healthy skin. Remove bangle bracelets and other jewelry that will get in the way. Make sure you are in a well-lit area, with a mirror. For best results, apply a moisturizer around eyes nightly and before applying makeup. If your eyes are red and sore, consider using eye drops to take away the redness.

To choose eye colors, always look closely at your skin. For yellow tones, use browns and light rose. For a pink tone, use blues, purples and pastels. For a black tone, use vibrant greens, oranges, reds and fall colors. When choosing shadow in threes, use differing gradations of the same color. Always apply lightest color highest above the eye, medium color on the bulk of the eyelid and dark color along the top line of the eye itself.

To start, apply concealer. Make sure that this is a color just a little lighter than your normal skin tone, to hide dark spots under the eye. If foundation matches skin exactly, you can also apply makeup, but be sure to cover the underside of eyes thoroughly. A loose, pressed powder applied to skin after this will seal the color and eye makeup will be easier to apply. Next, color your brows. Use a harder brush and sweep a darker color of your choice from the inner part of your brow out to the side of your face. Smooth brows with you finger when done. You are now ready to apply shadow.

When applying shadow, you can follow one of two rules. You can apply light shadow in one color for a professional, daytime look. For nighttime eyes, use three colors of shadow, carefully matched, to bring out lids. When applying one color, move your brush from the inner side of the eye to the outer in a careful, straight line. Blend color upwards so that it fades near the upper crease of the lid. When applying three colors, line your eye with the darkest shadow. Apply the lightest shade in a smooth line under your eyebrows and the middle shade to the crease above the eyelid. Blend and smooth colors together.

Eyeliner and mascara should always be applied after these other steps have been completed. Applying them before this will cause them to smear and ruin shadow and concealer. When applying eyeliner, always line the outer two thirds of your lower lid. Then line the top of the eye where the lashes meet the eyelid, for a solid look. Make sure that you are holding the pen with your dominant hand, and opening your eyes wide enough to see lining. If you are using a pencil, make sure that it is sharp. If you are using a cake or liquid, make sure that you use only a little on the tip of a brush and apply slowly. Apply mascara thinly after eyeliner, using a dry brush beforehand to comb and separate lashes. It is best to use two coats of mascara, making sure that they are thin and evenly-applied.

As is the case with all makeup, you should replace you eye materials every few months because if not, they may cause infection. There are a few ways to tell if your makeup has gone bad. Strange smells are usually a sign of makeup that should be discarded. If your liquid makeup appears thicker than usual, or starts clotting, throw it away. If powder makeup becomes cracked or starts to loosen in its container, it’s time to replace it. For mascaras, examine the consistency of the makeup when applied. Does it clot on your lashes? Does it smear or separate when water is applied? If so, get rid of it. Another tip for eye health is not to share makeup. Sharing makeup, even in a stage setting, is extremely bad for the complexion, and can lead to infections and breakouts around the eyes. Eyeliners and mascaras are especially dangerous to share, because these are in the closest proximity to the eye when applied. If you know you will be asked to share makeup, consider getting more makeup than you usually use, and more brushes than you know you will need for the occasion. This way, you’ll be able to give it away without putting your own complexion and eyes at risk.

You are now ready to dazzle! For a night out, remember to bring extra concealer and mascara, in case your original makeup runs or smudges. Have fun!
