Programme Overview

Pearl Academy of Fashion launched the Fashion and Media Make up programme in 2003 in technical collaboration with the London College of Fashion (LCF), the pioneers in beauty and fashion education worldwide. Exclusively designed to impart training on international trends and techniques, the programme offers intensive conceptual and practical study and training for those wishing to embark on careers as make-up artists in the fashion and media industry.

The programme is offered in 3 terms of 13 weeks each covering a range of specialist skills in make-up, hair styling and special effects for fashion, film, television, and theatre etc.it is proposed to add courses on Beauty and Hair dressing shortly. The multidisciplinary and broad based curriculam provides for an all-round development of students, in keeping with the make-up industry needs. Continous evaluation and assessment is under-taken throughout the course through assignments, projects and presentations.

Programme Structure

Term One
This term will introduce the students to the basics of visualization and make up with theoretical and practical training. The modules will include cosmetic technique; make up studies; hair styling, visual studies, IT and integrated project.

Term Two
At this level the students will be encouraged to apply the techniques and concepts learned in Term I for practical situations in the fashion and media industry. Modules such as fashion education, creative make up and creative hair styling, visual studies, and photographic styling, marketing and customer care, integrated project linked to cultural studies etc will further enhance their understanding of current issues of the profession.

Term Three
This final term is introduced to hone confidence and skill of the students to take up live-wire projects applicable to the workplace and exhibit professional developments. Subjects such as cultural studies, promotional make up, hair decoration, visual studies, introduction to special effects make up will be imparted through tutorial and mentor groups. The students will also work on preparation of a personal portfolio, study business in working environment, besides a final project.
