Best Makeup Removers: St. Ives, Olay Are My Choices

These Products Make it Easy to Take Off Eye Makeup and Other Cosmetics Finding the best makeup removers on the market can be tough. While many do a good job of getting off foundation and blush, a product that is a good eye makeup remover can be hard to come by. After trying several makeup removers, I’ve found two that I consider to be the best ones out there. The ingredient they both have in common, mineral oil, seems to make them stand out above other products on the drugstore shelf.

My first choice for a makeup remover is St. Ives Make-up Remover & Facial Cleanser. I have used this product for several years and always come back to it, even after trying other products. St. Ives Make-up Remover is a cream that is dispensed through a squeezable tube that stands upright on your counter. After applying it to my face, I use a warm, wet washcloth to remove it. You can then rinse your face and follow up with an astringent to get the last remnants of makeup from your pores. I really like this product because it does such a great job of getting off mascara, as well as easier-to-remove makeup. It is also a great value (for the best price, I usually purchase at Wal-mart).

The St. Ives packaging was recently updated by the manufacturer, and I wonder if they changed the formula for the product a bit as well. Its fragrance used to be pretty neutral, but now it has a moderate fragrance that to me smells like some type of flower. This is the one downside of the product for me; I liked it better when the fragrance was not very noticeable.

Another product that I really like is Olay Mascara + Make-up Remover. It also does a good job of taking off eye makeup. Olay Make-up Remover is another cream-based product that dispenses from an upright, squeezable tube, but the cream is thinner than that in the St. Ives product. I prefer the thickness of the St. Ives product, but I do like the fact that the fragrance of the Olay product is less noticeable than its competitor. The biggest downside for me about the Olay Mascara + Make-up Remover is that it is more expensive than the St. Ives product.

To remove stubborn eye makeup and other cosmetics, I recommend giving St. Ives and Olay a try.
