Airbrush makeup has been around for a while, actually since 2000 but was only for the trade. Originally airbrushing was only done by high-end makeup artists due to the cost and complication of the equipment.

Ok, with regular makeup, you apply liquid or power on your face and then spread all over with a brush. This is actually not a good way of doing makeup because you are actually spending most of the time removing or spreading makeup on your face. The typical rule is to get around 10-20% coverage with your skin, unless you have very bad skin. So with liquids and powders, you tend to get 100% coverage and then you have to spread and spread to get coverage down to 30-40%. With Airbrushing, you get around 10% coverage from the spray mist and with each coat you get 10-20% immediately and this is why the makeup looks natural. You actually end-up using very little makeup with airbrushing.

One major claim they should be making is that most people are going to see a huge reduction in break-outs. Brushes irritate skin, Brushes and sponges have bacteria, and no matter how hard you try, your fingers are never going to be that clean. People who airbrush generally have less breakouts.

You apply it to your face kind of like how you would use a regular brush (instead of a bristle brush, this is a brush with a cushion of air). The difference is that airbrushing is very hygienic. Any idea what is living in the makeup brush?? Micro-bacteria. Plus your hands and fingers never touch your face.
